Enter a Float
Floats are the heart and soul of our processions. Every year local schools and organisations enter floats to entertain the crowds, and show off their creative skills! If you are thinking of entering a float for this year’s Festival, please ensure that you read our guidance and can comply with our requirements first.

Guidance for Floats and Tableaus
All floats should arrive on the field and the Memorial Hall by 12.30pm. Once there a representative should register with the treasurer stating how many children are involved with the float. The procession will depart from the field at 1pm going down The Avenue to Churchtown. In Churchtown there is a short Church service at St Helen’s Church and responsible adults will be required to unload children, take them into Church and then load them back onto the float. The procession then returns to the Memorial Hall field. It is the responsibility of those entering floats to ensure that:Trailers are in good condition.Anyone riding on a float should be seated and/or have something to hold on to.There are sufficient adults with the float to be responsible for all the children (ideally each adult should be responsible for a named group of children). All children are collected from the float by a named adult. All children wear sunscreen where necessary. Those responsible for the float on the day are aware of any allergies and intolerances the children may have, and are able to deal appropriately with them.
